Meet the Team
John Kratzer is the owner of cows & horses, etc., which was established in 1993. John is a non-professional cutting horse competitor with lifetime NCHA earnings in excess of $186,000. John is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operation, including breeding decisions for all of our mares, the selection of trainers and training programs for our performance horses, and for major decisions related to the sale, welfare and nutrition of our horses. John is a Past Director of the PCCHA, the PCCHA Executive Committee and a current member of the Finance subcommittee. John was also the producer of the SDCHA Aged Event cuttings between 2005 and 2008.

Tim is the leading money winning rider in the history of the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association. With earnings in excess of $5 million, he is also one of the top 10 riders in the National Cutting Horse Association's history. In addition to competition, Tim also specializes in equine training, sales, lessons, clinics, consultations, and breeding. Tim is an NCHA and PCCHA Riders Hall of Fame. NCHA Director, PCCHA past President and multiple term Director plus numerous subcommittees. Tim has served on numerous association boards and consulted to some of the top Owners and Riders in the cutting horse industry.

Dr. JoLynn Joyce is a native of Huntsville, Texas. She attended Texas A&M University where she earned both her Bachelor and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees. Following veterinary school, Dr. Joyce completed an equine internship at Waller Equine Hospital and then went on to Colorado State University to compete a surgical residency. She became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2009. She was happy to return to the great state of Texas and make Austin Equine her home. Her areas of interest include lameness and surgery. She and her husband live in the area and enjoy live music, outdoors and spending time with family.

Dr. McNeel obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1991 from Kansas State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He grew up in rural Wyoming on a ranch with a working herd of horses. While in veterinary school, Dr. McNeel met his future wife Charlene who was born and raised in California. They married in 1990 and Dr. McNeel has been practicing equine medicine in Southern California ever since. His spare time is spent with his wife and two boys, Garrett and Jeremy. Team Penning is the family's favorite sport. In the last few years the McNeel's have enjoyed being owners of competitive cutting & snaffle bit futurity horses. Wayne's most recent personal endeavor is showing in an upcoming working cow horse event.

Seth attended high school in Arkansas and college at Coker College in South Carolina. At Coker, Seth played baseball and received a degree in Business Management and Sociology. Seth enjoys business, sports, hunting, horses and anything to do with the outdoors. Seth has a background in sports, athletic fields, ranch management and horse training. He has worked at and managed numerous ranches across the country including operations for Russell and Michal True at White Stallion Ranch in Tucson, Arizona; the Foreman position at Paradise Guest Ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming and family owned ranches in Texas. Not only does he have experience with ranch work but also horse training facilities, cow and horse operations, cotton and hay farms. He has managed horse herds up to 200 head, drive teams of mule and draft horses, shoes horses and also has experience packing strings of mules. Seth aspires to continue his career with horses and also become more involved in the business aspects of the industry.

Betsy was born in Troy, Michigan but moved to Ontario, Canada at the age of 10 to continue both high school and University. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in psychology and continued on to obtain a post-graduate degree in Behavioral Science Technology from St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario. Betsy fell in love with horses and the western way of life at a young age while visiting a ranch in Colorado at the age of 6. She then went on to attend a horse camp in Croswell, Michigan for the next 9 consecutive years. After her freshman year of college, Betsy has worked at Black River Ranch in Michigan, Hidden Creek Ranch & Red Horse Mountain Ranch in Idaho, and also Paradise Ranch in Wyoming. She has years of knowledge both handling and riding horses and currently works as a Rep for Core Balance equine nutrition.
